History

Founded in 1961 after the death of Frank Wookey the company was taken on by his three sons Gordon, Brian and Gerald. The main area of work for the company at the time was plastering large sites of new-builds in Whitchurch, Bristol. In the following years they extended their range of work to include the construction of new-builds, extensions and renovations. Employing up to 20 staff at the time.

Over the years many contracts were gained throughout Chew Valley and the surrounding area including a new village hall in Bishop Sutton, the renovation of Stanton Court Nursing Home and the construction of 23 new homes in Sutton Park, Bishop Sutton. F. J. Wookey and Co. have also been involved in several community projects including two sports pavilions at East Harptree and Westfield, Radstock.

In 2011 we are completing a new-build bungalow on the Mendip Hills and have completed several developments at Mendip Springs Golf Club whilst completing several contracts for some of our regular customers.
